Lu Xun and World Literature Research Institute Achieves New Breakthrough in Advancing International Lu Xun Studies

After coordinated multi-party promotion and
thorough preliminary preparations, the International Journal of Lu Xun
Studies (abbreviated as IJLXS) has officially obtained approval for
International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSN), with separate print and online
ISSNs granted simultaneously. This marks the official launch of the journal
into international publication and distribution, representing a pivotal stride
forward in its international development.
The founding of the International
Journal of Lu Xun Studies stands as a landmark achievement by the Lu Xun
and World Literature Research Institute of Shaoxing University in its vigorous
efforts to build platforms for international Lu Xun studies. It also
constitutes another major milestone in the Institute’s continuous deepening of
international academic exchanges and cooperation to serve the global
development of Lu Xun scholarship.
Adopting a global academic perspective, the
journal adheres to the tenets of internationalization, specialization and
high-caliber publishing. Centered on rigorous Lu Xun research, it focuses on Lu
Xun’s ideology, his literary oeuvre, and international Lu Xun studies.
Committed to aggregating research outcomes from across the globe, it aims to
establish a specialized academic journal on Lu Xun with worldwide influence,
and build an open, shared international exchange platform for Lu Xun
researchers of all nations.
Mr. Zhou Lingfei, eldest grandson of Lu
Xun, President of the Lu Xun Culture Foundation and Dean of the Lu Xun and
World Literature Research Institute at Shaoxing University, serves as Lifetime
Advisor of the journal and personally inscribed its Chinese title.
Professor Park Jae-woo, President of the
International Lu Xun Studies Association, Yangtze River Distinguished Visiting
Professor of China’s Ministry of Education, Distinguished Research Fellow at
Shaanxi Normal University and Honorary Professor at Hankuk University of
Foreign Studies, acts as Editor-in-Chief.
Professor Zhang Lianqiao from the School of
Humanities, Guangzhou University, who also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the
international journal Journal of Literary Writing and Criticism, holds
the position of Editorial Director for the International Journal of Lu Xun
Studies. He oversees editorial department development as well as the
journal’s editing and publishing operations.
The editorial office is hosted by
Information Education Publishing Company Limited in Hong Kong. An international
editorial advisory board, composed of core members of the International Lu Xun
Studies Association and leading Lu Xun scholars at home and abroad, will be
assembled to jointly advance the journal’s high-standard construction,
standardized operation and global expansion.
The journal enforces a rigorous
international peer-review system and complies fully with global publishing
norms and academic benchmarks. It actively publishes high-quality original
research papers spanning all facets of Lu Xun studies worldwide, continuously
expands its international editorial board network, and strengthens exchanges
and collaboration with universities, research institutions and Lu Xun scholars
globally to steadily elevate its international publishing standards and
academic standing. All articles will be assigned Crossref DOIs and indexed in
the CNKI Foreign Literature Database. The editorial team is also actively
preparing applications for inclusion in authoritative international databases
including Scopus and Web of Science.
Professor Zhang Lianqiao, Editorial
Director, remarked that the official approval of dual ISSNs grants the journal
authoritative recognition within the global academic publishing ecosystem,
furnishing scholars worldwide with a standardized, credible venue for
publishing their research. Currently, no bilingual (Chinese-English)
peer-reviewed journal dedicated exclusively to Lu Xun studies exists
internationally; the few existing relevant publications are predominantly
Chinese-language only. The launch of this journal fills a long-standing gap for
a professional bilingual academic platform in this field, and will
substantially broaden the global reach and academic impact of Lu Xun research.
Moving forward, the journal will benchmark the publishing standards of top-tier
international humanities journals, pool scholarly insights from all quarters,
and propel Lu Xun research into broader and deeper global exploration.
Since its establishment, the Lu Xun and
World Literature Research Institute of Shaoxing University has been rooted in
Lu Xun’s hometown while oriented toward the wider world. Its core objective is
to build a premier hub for international Lu Xun scholarship. The Institute
persistently integrates research resources from home and overseas, deepens
cross-border academic exchanges and collaboration, and constructs globally
influential platforms for Lu Xun research and dissemination. It has spearheaded
the development of the International Lu Xun Studies Association and refined the
organizational framework for international Lu Xun studies. In June this year,
the Joint Research Studio of the International Lu Xun Studies Association was
inaugurated at the Institute, further formalizing regular international
academic cooperation mechanisms and laying solid foundational support for the
journal and its associated platform system.
In the years ahead, drawing on the cultural heritage of Lu Xun’s hometown and the disciplinary strengths of Shaoxing University, the Lu Xun and World Literature Research Institute will partner with the Lu Xun Culture Foundation and the International Lu Xun Studies Association. Leveraging platforms including the Joint Research Studio and the International Journal of Lu Xun Studies, it will continue to aggregate global research resources, deepen transnational academic collaboration, raise the standard and global outreach of international Lu Xun studies, carry forward Lu Xun’s spirit to the world, and contribute to the international dissemination of fine traditional Chinese culture and inter-civilizational dialogue and mutual learning.
