On
behalf of all faculty and students of the university, Chen Juntu extended a
warm welcome to domestic and overseas scholars including Park Jae-woo and Zhou
Lingfei, and congratulated all parties on the studio’s official launch. He
stated that the university adheres to its developmental positioning of
"rooted in Shaoxing, delving deep into Lu Xun studies, integrating Chinese
and foreign insights, and serving cultural undertakings". Relying on the
Lu Xun and World Literature Research Institute, the university focuses on
research directions such as Lu Xun’s texts, overseas translation and
introduction of his works, and cultural activation, continuously building a
highland of Lu Xun studies with local characteristics. The co-founding of this
joint studio marks a groundbreaking collaboration that connects local academic
research with international frontiers and links scholarly research to cultural
tourism innovation. It also represents a brand-new exploration of cross-field
integration and two-way empowerment for Lu Xun studies in the new era. Standing
at this new starting point, the university will fully guarantee the operation
and development of the studio. He emphasized three core missions for the
studio: uphold the original aspiration of academic pursuit to jointly build an
international community of Lu Xun studies; take fostering virtue through
education as its fundamental task to cultivate interdisciplinary young talents;
shoulder cultural missions bravely to tell compelling stories of Lu Xun in the
new age.

Park
Jae-woo remarked that the International Lu Xun Studies Association was founded
in Shaoxing in 2011 and has long been committed to advancing global research on
Lu Xun and the worldwide dissemination of his spirit. Faced with numerous
global challenges including cultural estrangement in today’s world, Lu Xun’s
humanistic care and independent critical spirit carry profound practical value.
This studio is the first permanent official domestic base of the association.
It will not only serve as a new anchor for the future development of the
International Lu Xun Studies Association, but also establish a long-term
platform for exchange and cooperation among Lu Xun researchers from all
countries. He noted that the inauguration marks a brand-new beginning. Drawing
support from this platform, the association will deepen exchanges between
scholars of all nations and further explore the contemporary value of Lu Xun’s
spirit. All partners will join hands to inherit Lu Xun’s humanistic ethos and
ideal of cultivating independent human beings, enabling China’s humanistic
spirit to reach the world and radiate new vitality.

Zhou
Lingfei pointed out that Shaoxing is the birthplace of Lu Xun’s spirit. Far
transcending the boundaries of literature, Lu Xun has become a shared spiritual
treasure of global humanities. He highly affirmed the fruitful achievements
made by Park Jae-woo and the International Lu Xun Studies Association through
years of dedicated research, overseas translation of Lu Xun’s works and
promotion of international academic exchanges. He stated that leveraging
Shaoxing’s local cultural resources, the university’s teaching and research
workforce, and the association’s overseas academic resources, the joint studio
will carry out sustained research on Lu Xun’s texts and comparative overseas
studies, organize regular academic seminars and dialogues between Chinese and
foreign scholars, balance specialized academic research with public cultural
communication, pass down Lu Xun’s spirit to young students, and deliver robust
liaison and support services to live up to the shared trust of scholars at home
and abroad.

Person-in-charges from the Lu Xun School of
Humanities, the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Office of
International Exchange and Cooperation, the School of Foreign Languages and
